The Amateur Gourmet

Are you sick of competency?

Of food blogs run by competent people with flawless track records and no history of salmonella?

Are you tired of not having salmonella?

You’ve come to the right place.

The best blogs are the ones with a specific focus delivered with a good sense of humor. One new blog that fits the mold (har!) is The Amateur Gourmet, one man’s adventures with learning to cook and bake. I mean, c’mon, look at that picture on the about page! And that’s one of the best bios I’ve ever read.

The entries are packed tight with sarcastic wit and step-by-step pictures (often including the serving of food). There are some great movies to enjoy as well (“The Thai Chicken Barley Risotto Challenge”), but if you’re looking for a good place to start, try the Ask the Amateur Gourmet section. Or the beginning. That works, too.

What is this then?

The Daily Ping is the web's finest compendium of toilet information and Oreo™® research. Too much? Okay, okay, it's a daily opinion column written by two friends. Did we mention we've been doing this for over ten years? Tell me more!
