As you may have noticed, the Ping was down for a good amount of time this morning. In light of that, I was thinking about the ideal notification system for when a server is down.
I firmly believe that James “Scotty” Doohan should be hired simultaneously by all companies, and call you with a distinctive message when a server goes down. “She’s a’down, Cap’tin! I’m givin’ it all she’s got, sir!” You could, of course, configure Scotty to say one of ten witty phrases, all referring to the server being down, him giving it all he’s got, or some alien whiskey.
