What TV home(s) would you like to live in?
There are a few faux-homes that have the ability to make me feel comfortable just by watching our favorite TV families interact in them. Golden Girls is one of my favorite homes (even that little nook where Sophia was tied up and gagged in one episode), Family Ties (especially when the kitchen has that orange juice container that’s in almost every episode), and (oddly) The Torkelsons are a few of the homes I wouldn’t mind visiting.
I think that the apperance of a TV home is extremely important to a show. I’d say 80% of all action on most sitcoms takes place in the home, so having it look as comforting and realistic as possible. I wouldn’t be surprised if the success of many sitcoms (especially in the 80s) was due in large part to the types of houses or apartments the Seavers, the Keatons, the Macellis, the Balki-and-cousin-Larrys were living in.
