Chips Ahoy! Oreos?

A few days ago, the cool and cloudy afternoon found me doing some work in the kitchen. Jeani was home from work and watching television in the living room. I was going about my business when I heard a blood-curdling scream from the other end of the house. I dropped my Good Grips dish sponge and ran to see what was going on.

“Look! Loooook!” Jeani said, pointing to the paused commercial on TV. I directed my eyes to the television and couldn’t believe what I saw. Chips Ahoy! Cremewiches. A claymation commercial. Something rather disturbing. It was the premise of an Oreo, but with Chips Ahoy! cookies instead of Oreo chocolate wafer cookies.

Pingers, I’m worried. I’m worried that the Kraft-owned Nabisco is now mad with power, and has decided to make too many variations on the Oreo theme. Remember, of course, that there are Ritz Bits Sandwiches too – although those don’t include creme (ick.) I’m afraid of a world in which Oreos are just another sandwich cookie treat, and have no magic whatsoever.

We need to stop this kind of insanity before it spreads. Write your local Congressperson, and your Senator, and ask both of them to launch an investigation into this absurdity. Today.
