Mint Skittles

For the past few months, I’ve been having a mint audition in my automobile. Often, when I’m in the car, I need a mint or similar breath freshening agent to aid things along. Thus, I have a small container of mints always at the ready, just in case.

So yesterday I was amused and scared to see Mint Skittles. Look at those two words – I never, ever thought I’d see them together! The Minttles come in an appropriately semi-cool pleasing plastic container, which makes dispensing them… pleasing. There are five different shades of Minttles, all tasting like various peppermints.

The weirdest thing about the Minttles is that they have the consistency of normal Skittles. I think that Skittles have been ingrained so much in our memories as kids that throwing anything but a fruit flavor after that type of mouthfeel is weird. Very weird. I mean, they’re Skittles! I used to be addicted to fruit Skittles.

They do taste fine, by the way; nice and minty. Chewy, too. But the idea of Skittles, a pure candy, serving it up mint-style is going to take some getting used to. Like Coffee Pepsi. -pm
