Though I’d hesitate (slightly) to call him an “attention whore,” the one person in all of movie reviewdom that drives me aboslutely batty is Peter Travers from Rolling Stone. Why would this random reviewer bring out the deepest hatred from within me? Two reasons: he likes everything and he writes to be quoted in trailers.
Or so I thought.
Oddly, as I browsed through the Rotten Tomatoes link above, these two observations didn’t seem to hold true. I have this recollection of every POS movie having a positive Travers’ quote attached to its trailer, but looking at his Rotten Tomatoes listing, he seems to dish out criticism where it’s due.
Has anyone else made this negative connection with Travers’ name? I wish I could find a way to substantiate it, as I love to hate critics…

Peter Travers is an idiot for one simple and I would say all important reason; he gave Terminator 2 a rotten tomato on rottentomatoes.com. After that there is nothing left to redeem Peter Travers in my eyes, the guy is going striaght to hell for having sold his soul to the devil to badmouth that movie and then somehow support so many other mediocre, mind-numbering alternatives.

Peter Travers is an idiot because he works for Rolling Stone, because he called “Kids” a “Masterwork”, and he said to all who didn’t like “There will be Blood”: “screw them”. After that I don’t bother to acknowledge his existence.

I too have made that connection and have always associated Travers with anything bad in the world. Though he does dish out criticism now and then, you’ll see that even the movies he “doesn’t like” never get less than two stars (and that’s out of four). He’s clearly an attention whore.

Don’t second-guess yourself–you’re spot on. 3 out of every 4 movies I see advertised has a bogus Peter Travers quote affixed to it. He’s a total sellout POS, and the fact that Rolling Stone still employs him is a testament to what a sellout POS magazine Rolling Stone has become (remains?).

8 years since this was written and nothing has changed. Man is that dude a total incompetent idiot. It is people like him who allow bad movies to be created.
