Two years ago, I wrote about Just the Ten of Us, an ABC sitcom I enjoyed in my youth. One year ago, I did a followup for your enjoyment. Today I continue the trend with a Ping about the man, the legend really, known as Bill Kirchenbauer.
Bill’s talent is as big as his name – which is pretty big. He’s gotten accolades from Johnny Carson and the creator of TV’s Jeopardy!, Merv Griffin. He stands a full six feet tall, and weighs 240 pounds – according to his bio. And look! He’s been in such legendary films as Skatetown, U.S.A. – the rock and roller disco movie of the year – also starring screen legend Scott Baio.
Yes, Bill certainly has had a public and accomplished career. But if it wasn’t for that wee ABC show, no one would remember the name Coach Lubbo… er, Bill Kirchenbauer! -pm
