This year, even though I’m not celebrating a traditional Thanksgiving (recovering from a week-long illness), I’m thankful for a lot of things. I’m not deeply religious, although I have beliefs. But it’s a lot of the little things.
Last week when I was getting my mail, I thought about how nice it is to be able to even just walk down to the mailbox, grab the mail within, and read it. I thought about how nice it is to walk from the train to my house. How it is to just be able to breathe the air without any difficulties. Being able to walk, to speak, to express myself… just about everything I take for granted, I’m thankful for.
There are a lot of people in the world who can’t speak for themselves – either physically or politically. Let’s take the time to remember that we’ve got a lot of power here that we often take for granted… and make the best of it. -pm
