Christmas in October

I always thought the whole “they have Christmas decorations up at Halloween!” was a gross exaggeration that people would use to discuss how early department stores put out holiday-related items. By mid-November I would expect to see certain limited Christmas items on sale, but those people that said it was up before Halloween were crazy…

… or not. I couldn’t believe that I walked into a department store the first week of October and saw Christmas trees and decorations up. What the heck is this about? While having bathing suits on sale a few months before summer makes a little sense, I simply cannot see the rationale behind advertising a holiday that is not only more than two months away, but has two major holidays before it! As far as I’m concerned, the whole “get your Christmas shopping done early!” gimmick shouldn’t even be uttered until after Halloween and decorations should be disallowed (by law!) until late November. If Santa Claus is in the Macy’s parade, then decorations can go up in Macy’s.

Man… I’m turning into one of those whiny old men… -ram

This is pretty much crazy now.

All of our local Targets rolled out their Halloween stuff AND Christmas stuff SIMULTANEOUSLY. WTF? Holiday lights in one aisle, bags o’candy in the next. Makes no sense.

And, a Bath and Body Works nearby is already decked out for Christmas. That happened last week. Second week of October.

Can we just make it happen after Labor Day? Please?

Oh yes, BBW calls it their Falliday Floorset. I am sure they worked overnight Sunday to get it done…

What is this then?
