The upcoming IBM Roentgen monitor is due out later this year and looks to be the first real advance in PC display in years.
This Active Matrix Liquid Crystal Display will have a 16.8″ viewable area and will feature 200 pixels-per-inch (over twice that of a normal CRT). Supposedly, the viewing resolution will be approaching that of paper. Impressive, especially considering that their use of aluminum and copper will actually help keep prices down (how much, they don’t specify). As someone that spends 8 hours a day looking at a 21″ monitor with poor contrast, I am anxioiusly awaiting to see the wonders this display will do for my eyes. -ram
