I’d like to give amazon.com a hearty thank you. They sent me a tumbler, and they really didn’t have to. I got a rather nice package from them a few days ago, with the aforementioned tumbler and a short letter thanking me for purchasing from them.
I got to thinking that, from a marketing and PR perspective, giving away stuff is excellent and very positive. Sure, it reinforces brand image and makes the customer remember you but, even more importantly, it’s just good. Sending out free things is just nice and it’d be great if some more companies did it.
