Where do you turn?

Pop quiz, hot shot. You’re approaching this intersection from what is the bottom of this picture. You want to make a left turn. At which point do you enter the turn lane: A, B, or C?

Is this a trick question? C since A is for the first lane and B is a solid line. Though it looks like there’s about a 1/4th second period of time where a car could make that transition…

Not a trick question.

I see cars use B/C regularly, but I use A. My reasoning: the lane’s main entrance is at A. There is no entrance at B nor C. The lane continues, broken only by the parking lot entrance.

I also think it would be hilarious, and maybe sad, if this ended up just being us discussing this.

My concern with A would be that if you continued through, someone coming in via B or C might not expect you to continue going straight.

Also, I would recommend against parking in the jaws of death pictured.

Good point. That’s why I asked this on the Ping; everyone reads it.

Entering at A does give enough warning to B/C folks, I think. But again, valid point.

I would enter the turn lane at A also.

I think it kinda depends for me. If traffic’s really light, I might go for C. But I might go for A instead because I’d forget that there’s a break. If traffic’s heavy, I’d use A, but I would make sure to take it slow in the break to make sure I see anyone using C who doesn’t realize I’m not turning at the first turn.

What is this then?
