Airplane Food

The other day I was en route to a client site via the big silver bird in the sky, but thanks to a number of delays the flight was happening during dinner. And that meant… it was time to have some food on the plane.

I tend not to buy food on planes unless there are extenuating circumstances. But I’m also partly convinced that the stuff from the planes and the cold cases in the airports – with sandwiches, salads, and the like – all come from one giant food-makin’ company anyway, so it’s no better or worse. Probably.

I admit, I was pleasantly surprised by the thai chicken wrap I had. I expected kind of a sad wrap with more tortilla than anything else, but no – it was decent. I wouldn’t actively choose it when something like this is an option, but in the confines of a plane it was good.

But that’s an exception, I’m guessing. Tales of mystery and/or excellent airplane food, anyone?

We had very good airline food on our China Airlines flight to Vietnam 13 years ago. Huyen reported that it was still quite impressive after her trip last year.

International seems to be a bit better, in general. However I have actually never been on an international flight, so I couldn’t tell you for sure.

What is this then?
