10 Items or Less

10 Items or Less is a show I recently discovered on Netflix and decided to watch because, hey, it’s a sitcom that takes place in a grocery store and grocery stores are awesome.

I had never even heard of the show before seeing it on Netflix. Turns out there’s a reason why: it ran for three seasons on TBS (which, for some reason, is only 21 episodes). Except for Braves fans, I don’t think a whole lot of people are looking to TBS for their comedy programming. And that’s a shame, because 10 Items or Less is a darn funny show. It’s partially scripted, mainly improvised, with each 22 minute episode culled down from 30 hours (!!) of footage. The characters are excellent, the shows’ themes are just goofy enough without being completely absurd, and the humor is actually funny. A rarity, in other words.

Give it a spin.

(And also check out the show’s creator and star John Lehr giving a great interview followed by an even greater apology.)

I’ve been very very curious about this show, too, in part because it involves grocery shopping. I hope!

What is this then?
