It’s pretty much winter in Chicago now, so I’ve moved from my mid-weight jacket to my heavy-weight one complete with gloves and a scarf. I like my scarf, but it has one critical flaw: it’s not that long.
Apparently I have a pretty standard length of scarf and although it’s enough to wrap around my entire noggin, it provides just a single layer of protection over my nose and mouth. And when it’s really cold, that just isn’t enough.
I started shopping, then, for a longer scarf. I thought this would be pretty easy but I have to admit that it’s been more difficult than I expected. I shopped a couple of Internet stores as well as department stores to no avail. I don’t want one that’s ridiculously long – just a little longer. Is that too much to ask?
As I continue my search, I’ll make do with what I’ve got. I just hope I can stay warm enough.

I’m happy to announce that I finally found and ordered a longer scarf. My short scarf days are almost over.
