Has the internet changed your attention span at all?
I’m starting to notice that more and more, I have less and less tolerance for longform items – that is, TV shows more than 30 minutes, movies, and (gulp) books. While I can indeed get into these things it takes a little more conscious concentration than it used to. I’m not sure if I should blame Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, tumblr, or the Ping, but it’s kind of disturbing.
As a side note, I’ve also taken to reading Wikipedia entries of movies and shows versus watching them – almost like Cliff’s Notes for everything. I mean, I could watch all of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, but when it’s summarized on the web so well, why bother?
