Dear Billy,
Hey there. I’m a fellow Chicago-ish-an, and I’d like to talk with you about the Smashing Pumpkins. Billy, you really need to just hang it up already.
I was very much into your music in the 90s, as were a lot of people. At that time you were making art that was totally appropriate for the time: brash, angry, yet meticulous. I can only imagine the intensity and pressure around being so popular; you were on The Simpsons for goodness’ sake.
But more and more it seems like you’re beating a dead horse here. A few years ago you announced the return of the Pumpkins which, in the end, turned out to be you with some other musicians. Now maybe you’ve always seen it this way, but you can’t deny that the core of the band has changed dramatically in the past 17 years. I think Jeff Tweedy can pull this off but I’m not sure you can.
I want you to do well even though you’re a Cubs fan. So, again: just hang it up. Produce music under your own name, or Zwan, or another band that lasts just one album (free name idea: Jabloney.) But leave the name of the Pumpkins be. I’ll always associate it with my high school days, and I’d rather not be reminded of the sad state the band is in today.
Fairweather fan,
Paul

WHY ARE YOU SUCH A HATER?!!!
Billy is teh awesome and if you don’t like the Smushing Pompkins, don’t listen to them!
PS. I think Billy should do a duet with Raven-Symone.
