Best Movies of the Year

Yesterday the family went to see a movie, as is tradition on Christmas Day, and this year we chose Up in the Air. After watching it I knew it was one of my favorite movies of the year – a clear 5-star rating for me, and second only to Star Trek as a great film I could watch again and again. I was surprised to be so impressed by something so late in the year, but sure enough, I was.

How about you? What’d you like this year?

“Up” simply made my year at the theaters. It is probably the best Pixar movie since the first “Toy Story”. In addition, the Digital 3D in the theaters really added to the gorgeous artwork in the movie. No cheap 3D stunts, just gorgeous depth that really made the movie come to life.

Dave, you’re right – “Up” was fantastic.

Four years ago I started keeping track of all the movies I had seen, along with my own ratings for ’em. I don’t watch a whole lot, to be honest, but it’s fun to be able to look back and recall what I’ve watched.

This year, “Up”, “Inglorious Basterds”, and “Milk” got 4.5 stars from me. And I’d consider all three to be just a smidge below my favorites, but still extremely good.

Someday I’ll do the geeky thing and put this data into a spreadsheet.

What is this then?
