I’m pleased to report that the trend of starting Christmas earlier every year has definitely been in force again this year. Naturally, Target and Home Depot had Christmas items alongside Halloween items back in early October (truly!) but, most importantly, I’ve now heard my first Christmas song: a cover of “Winter Wonderland” at a Jamba Juice. Which, of course, had lots of holiday signage up.
And a local “lifestyle center” is having Santa present their Christmas lights… on Saturday the 6th.
I think that there’s a secret agenda afoot to just combine Halloween and Christmas (and who cares about Thanksgiving?) Can you imagine the possibilities? A holiday season which extends from October 1 all the way to January 1? Scary!
