No Caps for You

We’re fortunate enough to live in a place which offers curbside recycling – and single-stream recycling at that. It’s lovely. We have a recycling can the same size as our trash can, and we usually have more recyclable goods than trash.

Nearly all of the bottled products we buy come in recyclable bottles. This is really great. A rinse, a dry, and into the recycle bin it goes. But there is one little wrinkle in this plan: some companies have decided to make caps impossible to remove. And worse, these caps are not visibly marked for recycling.

Take, for instance, my after shave from Every Man Jack. Comes in a plastic pouch/tube that implores me to recycle it. When I finished my last tube of it I wanted to clean it out and recycle it. I started to take off the cap and found… I couldn’t. I could twist it, pinch it, poke at it, stare at it… nothing. I ended up keeping the cap on and cleaning it out through its tiny opening instead. Silly.

Several other items in our household have these indestructible caps, mostly cleaning products. I wouldn’t mind keeping caps on, in general, except for that whole needing to clean out recyclables bit. It’s too bad, and makes me wonder if some people just throw these things out because they can’t properly clean them.

Hi! Frank. I left a message or the black squirrel as it was the first ping I found. If your picture is above then I am sure we have not met.
You were kind to send me a gift that I received on Feb. 17, 2008 or 6. I don’t remember If I had said “Thank You” or not. If not, then “Thank you very much.” And I apologize for the delay. I had to revamp the study this week and found the envelope that you had sent with your return address on it.
I could suggest that the cleaning lady take problems of that nature to the Lord in prayer. God have provision and love for things that might have otherwise been thrown out or lost. It would be dilghtful to hear from you.
In Him, Earl

What is this then?
