Twitter is the New Seinfeld

Sometime after Seinfeld went off the air back in the late 1870s, there were gazillions of ideas floating out there for what would be the “new Seinfeld.” I think I found the answer: Twitter.

Why? Well, consider this: Twitter is, in essence, a large collection of shallow, fairly meaningless observations about nothing. Seinfeld was a show with a large collection of shallow, fairly meaningless observations about nothing. Twitter has four main characters who live in New York. Seinfeld has four main characters who live in New York.

Twitter has catch phrases and “memes” that spread quickly and wildly. Seinfeld too. Twitter also has annoying moments. Seinfeld had annoying moments.

My hope, then, is that Twitter goes out on top – or attempts to do so, much like Seinfeld attempted to do so. There’s only so much nothing one can take.
