Here is one thing I love about the TV show How I Met Your Mother: every time they mention a wacky-sounding website on the show… it turns out to exist.

With that in mind, I present the latest: canadiansexacts.org. The timing’s good, too, because I’m headed up to Canada later this week, and I really need to know what the “Reverse Rick Moranis” was.

I think most of the major networks have a policy: If a fake website is mentioned in a show, they usually buy the rights to it, so no one can buy the domain and put up a pr0n site.
It’s only been in the last year or two that shows have really taken to using them as promotional tools.

Best example: Conan O’Brien’s famous hornymanatee.com , which NBC was forced to buy after an ad-libbed comment to a failed sketch. It turned into comedy gold for the next few months, not to mention millions of hits for an NBC-owned website.

I prefer “Man-on-Manatee”, myself…

What is this then?

The Daily Ping is the web's finest compendium of toilet information and Oreo™® research. Too much? Okay, okay, it's a daily opinion column written by two friends. Did we mention we've been doing this for over ten years? Tell me more!
