It’s About Time We Had Newspaper-Backed Wine

I’ve come to a place of acceptance for a lot of brand sharing in our culture. Oreo milkshakes at Baskin Robbins? OK. Mountain Dew flavor Doritos? Fine. Beverly Hillbillies BBQ sauce? All right.

Then I was gobsmacked by another odd one: Wall Street Journal Wine. Go have a look. I’ll wait.

One part of me thinks that this probably came from some reader survey done a while ago, followed by meetings involving the words “synergy,” “lifestyle,” and “tons of money.” But really, folks? Wine with newspaper branding?

You know, this could have some potential. What about USA Today Toilet Paper? New York Times Birkenstocks? National Enquirer Moist Towelettes? The New Yorker Top Hats and Monocles?

Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to drink some Atlantic Monthly Lemonade.
