Cellophane color

My dad told me an interesting story about the early days of television in the home. Back in the 1950s, his family was one of the first on the block to have a TV. It was black and white, of course, but apparently, they also had pieces of cellophane that they’d lay over the television screen to simulate color (someone would sit near the TV to take it on and off at appropriate times). Like a piece of cellophane that was green on the bottom and blue on the top for use during westerns. Imagine the green grass and blue sky. It must have been breathtaking!

Or absurd when a blue person walked across the screen.

Your dad was correct, I’am in my 60s and we had the same thing in Indiana as a young child when I was around 6 or 7. I describe it as a plastic sheet, that you purchased from the corner store it had some type of adhesive in the 4 corners and you put it over the screen where it adhered. It was blue in color across the top for an inch or two and green on the bottom about the same width and the largest portion, the center, about 3 inches or so, was red. Yep the people looked funny because they were mostly red.

What is this then?
