A Web With Ads

In my day-to-day duties as a web guru I sometimes need to test out websites with ads enabled. And I tell you, I’m not sure how people tolerate it. The sheer number of pop-ups, pop-unders, banners, floating ads, Flash ads, and general junk is simply stunning.

So something I’ve noticed on top of that is in my regular browsing, more ads are popping through my ad blocker for Safari. It’s getting to the point where I’m actually considering switching to Firefox – bulky, non-standard UI and all – just to avoid all these damn ads. I suppose I could join Ryan in the Atypical Browser Club and go back to OmniWeb, too.

But moreso I just don’t know how average folks deal with all the ads. Do you know of anyone who does? And why?

What is this then?

The Daily Ping is the web's finest compendium of toilet information and Oreo™® research. Too much? Okay, okay, it's a daily opinion column written by two friends. Did we mention we've been doing this for over ten years? Tell me more!
