Yesterday Netflix announced that they’d be getting rid of their “profiles” feature, a very nice feature that lets Netflix subscribers maintain queues and lists for multiple family members.
Why in the heck would they be getting rid of this? It’s unbelievably useful, especially for subscribers who have more than one out at a time, as you can tell Netflix to make sure that each profile always has something being mailed to them. The only reason that I can think of that they’re getting rid of this option is because they have some future infrastructure change planned. Still, it’s pretty baffling that they’re getting rid of such useful functionality.
Of course, there’s already outcry from users about it, including a Facebook group. I wouldn’t be surprised if Netflix buckles and cancels the cancellation of the feature within a week.
