I’m about the least handy person on the planet, but there are a few things around the house that I can handle on my own. Painting, toilets, the simplest of simple repairs… but there are a few things that if something goes wrong, I won’t even attempt to fix. Anything involving electricity or wiring, for one (aside from safe things like replacing a thermostat or flipping switches on the circuit breaker). Anything involving our HVAC/hot water heater. Anything that involves being on the roof. Things that involve large spinning saws that could take off a limb.
What won’t you do? When will you always call someone else for help?

If I have clear directions to follow there isn’t much I won’t try (much to my wife’s dismay). In the last few months I’ve replaced a dead ballast in the overheard fluorescent light in the kitchen, and replaced a bad bearing in the dryer.
