Hot Vent

As I was walking the dog this morning in chilly, chilly weather and sleet falling on us, I had a memory flashback from childhood. And I don’t think I’ve shared this particular one before.

I remember on cold mornings in the winter–and it was always cold in our house in the winter because my dad doesn’t believe in letting the inside temperature get above 40–going into the downstairs bathroom before school and sitting on the floor by the heating vent. Sometimes I’d warm my hands over it like a hobo, other times I’d stand directly on it, hoping the hot air would warm my soul by way of my soles (har!). Sometimes, I still do this at my house, even though it’s not quite as arctic as the house I grew up in (my wife would beg to differe, I’m sure).

What is this then?
