Why is it that the music that plays the loudest from cars and can be heard from blocks away is always the worst music? Sometimes it’s country, sometimes it’s the worst possible reggeton, sometimes it’s mainstream hip-hop from four years ago. But it’s never, say, Mozart or Miles Davis’ “So What.” Like BDP (also not blasted out of car stereos… anymore), “Why is that?”

Because people with good musical taste are generally considerate enough not to blast their music.

I have to admit I’ve been guilty of blasting, probably less than cool music (to others), before. One time I was coming back from visiting a friend in a hospital. The weather was beautiful for late October (last year) and I had on a mix with musicians from Middle East, Mexico, S. America, S. Africa… pretty much non-“Caucasian” music.
I pulled up to an intersection along side a monster 4X4 with windows open. “Good ole boy” leaned out his window and asks, “Ain’t you got any music in English?” I replied, “Sure, but if I played that, would you be smart enough to understand that too?”
I know… sometimes I’m an A55.
