I’m in airports a lot. And I know, I know, most people who fly a lot are businessfolk. That means the advertisements are geared towards businessfolk.
But for goodness sake, can we knock off the crazy workaholic themes with these ads?
The one that got my goat recently was one for Windows Mobile. It asked, “Wait for the plane, or edit the spreadsheet?” I don’t know about you but, I really don’t like spreadsheets. And the last thing I want to do when I’m at the airport is edit a spreadsheet.
There’s nothing wrong with work, and there’s nothing wrong with being productive at work. But do we need to be 100% on, all of the time? I say no.

I don’t mind spreadsheets, and being able to go online when waiting for the 2.5 hours they tell you to get to the airport in advance would be nice. I would not work, though.
Honestly, if work forces me to fly, that counts as me working anyway, because it is time I would otherwise have had for myself. Kind of like if I am asked to cover the phones at work, my time is so fragmented that I cannot do actual programming, so I don’t even try.
