For some reason, people like to fully capitalize the word “Mac” when they’re referring to the computer. I think it’s because PC is an initialism and actually stands for something – personal computer.
The wee problem is that MAC means something else entirely. It’s usually the Media Access Control address for a device on a network. Not quite the shiny white computers from Apple.
If you want to have a little fun with it, though, you can do what I do and read the all-caps word as yelling. So when people are talking about “the PC/MAC debate”, they’re really just yelling part of it.

MAC is also the Money Access Card (the debit card of choice in the Philly/metro area). People would always say “I have my MAC card” which is redundant, like “PIN number.” The worst would be if someone were to say, “I lost my PIN number for my MAC card.”
