Once again, The Daily Show With Jon Stewart has rolled out a new set. Within the lifespan of the Daily Ping (a little over 7 years), we’ve had a total of 4 designs; in that same timespan TDS has had 63.
Nevertheless I can’t say I’m a big fan of it. There’s too much going on: there’s the live feed of the “newsroom” behind Jon, the bigass monitor off to his right, the bigass monitor off to his left, the animation on the front of his desk… phew. The only way this works is if it’s a (ready?) parody of real news shows, which try to distract one’s attention by doing 749 things at once. Then, it’s a joke, and I like jokes.
One perhaps clever change is that the desk is now shaped like a big “J” when viewed from overhead much like Stephen Colbert’s C-shaped desk. That’s something I can get behind.

The giant head of Brian Williams was pretty funny, but I agree — too much going on in the background.
The desk itself is much better, though. It doesn’t look like the guest is always about to roll off the edge of the platform.
