The Daily Ping

Not a toilet in the country has not been affected by the Ping in one way or another.

Garrison Keillor

I’ll admit I’m a fan of both A Prairie Home Companion and Garrison Keillor, but this critique from Dan Savage on one of his Salon articles points out, uh, a fair amount of homophobia. Was Keillor’s piece satire? Was it not? Is Dan Savage just trolling? Hard to tell, but a lot of people took it all at face value.

The best part is, as with almost anything on the web, the comments. It’s like everyone who thinks Keillor sucks was just waiting for something to slip – and this is a biggie – in order to post their “I always hated him!” comments. 400 comments. That’s a lot.

It seems inevitable that someone will find some dirt on Ira Glass sometime soon. And then, well, look out.

Lileks thinks it was satire.

I grew up on Keillor’s radio show and don’t know a whole lot about his politics. But I read this as a bit of satire that wasn’t exactly successful. I believe he has a history of being pro-gay rights so I wouldn’t take the article at face value.

What is this then?
