In the past I’vediscussed how big a part of my life TiVo now is. It’s been over five yearssince I got my first TiVo, and I can’t imagine watching TV without it.
But there’s a strange side-effect to TiVo: my tolerance for some shows hasreally, really declined. Take, for instance, Star Trek: The NextGeneration.A fine show, one that I do enjoy. TiVo often has 4-7 episodes recorded for meas suggestions.
When I watch an episode I end up fast-forwarding through much of it,abbreviatingan hour-long show (47 minutes without commercials) down to maybe 20 minutes.Yes,I’ve seen all of these before. But it’s a little disconcerting to think that Ihavea hard time devoting attention to it for any longer than that amount of time.MaybeI just need to read a book.
