I’d like to present Exhibit A as to why rock bands should never, ever hook up with video game companies: Journey Escape. It’s a game… featuring Journey… for the Atari 2600.
The objective of the game is simple:
You must lead all 5 members of Journey through waves of pesky characters and backstage obstacles to the Scarab Escape Vehicle before time runs out. You must also protect $50,000 in concert cash from grasping groupies, photographers, and promoters.
I think my favorite thing about this game is, of course, the crappy graphics – with the best one being the band’s manager, who looks like a stretched-out Kool-Aid Man. Oh yeah!
Also, the Scarab Escape Vehicle? Come on. I stopped believin’.
