The internet – and the web, in particular – have done wonders for our civilization. We can complain about things faster than ever before, and get just about anything on earth shipped to our front door. Sure, it’s done a lot for us socially – but what about practically?
In all honesty, one of the things that was really difficult to do well before the internet came along was… comparison shopping. If you wanted to know about a certain product, you had to schlepp over to the library and look through Consumer Reports archives on microfilm, check out magazines, and generally go through a ton of legwork. While there’s still work involved, it’s a lot simpler nowadays – the information is all in front of you.
It’s also a lot easier to find recipes. And I’m serious about this.
