At the End of the Day…

Have you noticed that everyone is now talking about the end of their days? “At the end of the day” is a phrase that seemed to get really popular (where else!) in marketing and business circles, but it’s getting a little out of hand now. Why, when just viewing The Apprentice this past week I counted six instances of its use. ATEOTD is the latest in a long line of crutches that we all have come to depend on.

But the crutch is rickety and old. So let’s try something new: “At the start of tomorrow.” “When tomorrow morning comes.” “After today.” Or, simply, “Tomorrow.” Really, who cares what happens at the end of the day? At the end of the day, I’ll be sleeping. That’s not important. Tomorrow? I’ll be, uh, sleeping too. But at least I won’t be talking about the end of my day anymore.
