Sudoku

I enjoy puzzle games as much as the next guy, but just don’t devote much time to playing them any more. But when I came across Sudoku last week and downloaded a version of it, I got hooked.

The game is simple: there is a 9×9 grid divided into nine 3×3 grids. A set of numbers is filled at the beginning of the game. The goal is to make sure that each row, column, and 3×3 grid has only one of each digit. It’s definitely addictive and took me about 20-30 minutes on the easy level. Apparently, a “super” version exists that’s 16×16 and uses hexidecimal instead of decimal (!).

I’d love to see a thin, portable version of this game. There are version for the Palm OS, sure, but I don’t have a Palm and would gladly drop a few bucks on a standalone Sudoku unit to use while traveling. Until one comes along, perhaps I’ll just have to print a bunch, bind ’em up, and bring them with me (now there’s a simple idea for a Cafepress book!).
