A month ago, I mentioned that one of my favorite things about the Sunday paper is the crossword. The Chicago Tribune has a pretty good one, in fact. But that got me to wondering just how many people still do crosswords and search-a-words.
My grandmother used to do search-a-words religiously. We’d get her a few big, big books of search-a-words for Christmas and she would keep at ’em all year long… keeping the mind sharp. I enjoy search-a-words, but I like crosswords more. In my household it felt like you could like one or the other but not both.
I think my interest in crosswords started back in the 5th grade or so, when a teacher introduced me to Games magazine – one which I still enjoy every now and then. The crosswords were always a good challenge.
So what about you? Do you still do any pencil games?
