Google Define

Dictionaries have come a long way.

It used to be, you had to go all the way to dictionary.com and wait for the page to load before typing in your word (which might not be a word.) For now, though, the easiest way to look a word up is to use Google’s define feature.

It’s pretty easy: just type, say, define: bluster and there you go.

But I can think of a way dictionary.com can make itself better: let me enter my word in the URL. For instance, dictionary.com/define/bluster would be good – it’s similar to the geeky site php.net, which lets one type in commands and functions to look up right in the URL.

Give Google define a shot, though – I find it really handy.

What is this then?

The Daily Ping is the web's finest compendium of toilet information and Oreo™® research. Too much? Okay, okay, it's a daily opinion column written by two friends. Did we mention we've been doing this for over ten years? Tell me more!
