Where’s George?

I’ve seen Where’s George pop up a number of times, in magazine articles, in blog entries, but until recently, I didn’t really think much of it. But now I registered, and it’s addictive.

The idea behind the site is that you register all the bills you have in your possession by entering the serial number and the “series.” You then write “www.wheresgeorge.com” on the back in the margin (which is legal, apparently). The hope is that people who get the bill in the future will see the web address, go to the site, and register the bill themselves. It’s kind of strange, but also oddly engrossing to watch how far a bill has travelled. All sorts of statistics are available on the site, including miles the bill has travelled, the time its taken, and, of course, the bill’s “speed” in miles-per-hour.

I entered my first set of bills — it should be interesting to see how this little experiment grows over time. -ram

What is this then?

The Daily Ping is the web's finest compendium of toilet information and Oreo™® research. Too much? Okay, okay, it's a daily opinion column written by two friends. Did we mention we've been doing this for over ten years? Tell me more!
